Coronach -

By Kelly Elder
When you walk into Coronach's Sarcan Depot, you are welcomed by the smiling faces of their two employees and the refreshing smell of cleaning products.
For the third year in a row, the employees of the Coronach depot have been rewarded for their efforts.
This year, the depot was awarded for their customer service and cleanliness. Last year they received the Accuracy and Cleanliness award, in 2007, the Customer Service award.
The employees are proud of their work and the service they provide to the area.
Wanda McMillan, supervisor of the depot, accepted the awards on behalf of herself and co-worker Maryanne Calkin, at the annual Sarcan Recycling Depot Supervisor Training event that was held on March 3-4.
Each year, all of the depots across Saskatchewan are visited by a "secret shopper" who evaluates the depot on customer service, accuracy and cleanliness. Depots of similar size are compared to each other to determine the awards.
McMillan was pleased to receive the award from her employer. "I really enjoy working for Sarcan, they are a good company to work for and they are good to their employees."
After three years in a row that the depot has been awarded, McMillan is still very pleased to be awarded. "It's good to get (the awards), we appreciate them!" said McMillan.
The awards are in addition to the comments that the staff receives regularly from customers who compliment them on their clean depot.
Calkin said, "We appreciate all the feedback from customers. We have had customers phone head office and give us praise for the way we operate here."
The staff at the depot received a letter from Head office in regards to customers compliments. In the letter, Sean Collins, General Manager of Collection Systems for Sarcan Recycling said, "You maintain a very clean, organized and customer friendly depot. . . customers consistently comment of the fantastic customer service they continue to receive each and every visit."
The letter was printed in an in-house employee newsletter, the "Sarcan Spirit".
McMillan talked about the customer comments, "I appreciate the feedback from our customers and I am sure they help us win the awards."
The Sarcan depot moved to its present location at 215 South Ave. E. in July 2008 and the ladies are kept busy collecting all types of recylables, including electronics.
Sarcan added electronics to the list of items that they would collect in February of 2007 and as of April 1, 2010, the list will be expanded. Since 2007, customers were able to drop off unwanted computers, monitors, printers, scanners, faxes, and televisions. After April 1, customers will be able to drop off audio equipment, video equipment, telephones and cameras of all types.
McMillan is pleased to be offering additional services. "Recycling is a wonderful thing. It's good to have everyone recycle if they can."
