Dietary Staff received People's Choice Award

On Friday, October 10, staff of the Coronach Health Centre hosted a reception for the Dietary Staff at the Coronach Health Centre and their family, friends and co workers.
Barb Tomilin introduced Mark Rochat, representative of the Health Care Council of Canadian Union of Public Employees, who presented the staff with the People's Choice Award for their commitment to food excellence and serving the people in the community of Coronach.

On Friday, October 10, staff of the Coronach Health Centre hosted a reception for the Dietary Staff at the Coronach Health Centre and their family, friends and co workers.
Barb Tomilin introduced Mark Rochat, representative of the Health Care Council of Canadian Union of Public Employees, who presented the staff with the People's Choice Award for their commitment to food excellence and serving the people in the community of Coronach.
The council presented certificates of achievement in three categories to 14 other health facilities across Saskatchewan during the week of October 10. Certificates were presented for Food Excellence, Supporting the Local community and the People's Choice Award.
Rochat explained that the People's Choice is presented to health facilities that produce high quality food for residents and staff. "It goes without saying that the dietary staff also prepares and delivers hot nutritious meals for the public utilizing this facility.
"At a time when some Saskatchewan hospitals are turning to re-thermalized food systems where food is cooked, frozen and zapped, we are pleased to recognize the Dietary staff at the Coronach Health Centre for the excellent food they prepare and staff, residents and visitors are saying so." he continued.
Rochat read a number of comments that were made about the Dietary staff and their meals.
• The Dietary Staff prepare excellent meals and bake wonderful desserts every day
• There's always delicious goodies for special occasions
• Go out of their way to cater to likes and dislikes and always greet the residents with a smile and hello
• You would never get this kind of meal in the city
• The girls are such good cooks and serve good portions
Rochat concluded his presentation with, "I know the CUPE Dietary workers in this facility take tremendous pride in serving good quality food to their residents seven days a week, 365 days a year. I also know they get very little recognition for their work. Today, we want to change that."
There are two full time, one part time and three casual staff that make up the Dietary staff at the Coronach Health Centre.
Mary Schnell, full time staff, said, "We are really thankful to get this award. It means people like what we do and it's nice to be recognized for a job we love to do."
"It's a great place to work," added Linda Kirby, part time staff member.
