Wind, mud & cellphones. . .

Coronach -

As I write this column, a cold harsh wind is blowing, and has blown away our beautiful weather!!
What a shame! It was such a nice break from the fog and dreary weather!
I hope this weather doesn't last long and we are back to the balmy spring weather of last week.
What great weather to enjoy the spring thaw. Not that we enjoyed all of the muddy clothes that our daughter, Delaney came home in but what fun mud can be!!
I love this time of year. I remember breaking the ice on the puddles on the way to school and playing in the running water. Delaney and her friend were making boats to send down the "rivers" the other day. I was glad to see that all forms of imaginative play have not been replaced by the DS or DSI or the television and of course the dreaded cell phone.
I am holding firm against Delaney's strong complaining that "everyone" has a cellphone!! I do believe her that nearly "everyone" does have one, but I am not caving yet!!
I am as guilty as anyone with my addiction to my cellphone, I feel absolutely lost and nervous if I accidentally head out of the house without it. How did it get to the point that I would actually have a nervous feeling about being at the Co-op grocery store without my phone!!!!! I am sure if somebody needed me that bad, they would probably call back or find me right??
Am I alone in my fear that our kids will not be able to walk with their heads upright as they spend all of their time walking with their heads bent over their phone?
Or that they won't be able to carry on a regular conversation?
I like that I can contact my boys, and my friends and not disrupt their day too much and that they can respond when it is convenient and I would never want to go back to the days without cellphones.
And I like that I can send a quick text to someone when I have a quick thought, but, I hope that all conversation skills will not be lost. . .
and that we will still take time for a visit with our friends and family!!
