The Coronach Health Centre has a new woman at the helm. Dawn Gold from Willow Bunch was hired to replace Barb Tomilin, who retired in January.

Gold began her new position on January 3 with Tomilin vacating the position shortly thereafter on January 8.

“It has kinda been a whirlwind!” said Gold. Referring to the amount of information she has needed to absorb in a short time.

Gold took over the Community Health Services Manager position a the health centre. Her Job description says, “The Community Health Services Manager is accountable for the efficient and effective operation of health services to the community be providing overall direction and co-ordination of programs of care, service, administration and education and enforcement of all Regional policies and procedures and relevant requirements.”

In short. . . in charge of the daily supervision of all departments and disciplines.

Although Gold admits this position is “a much broader scope of practice than what I am accustomed to” she looks forward to working full time in the healthcare field.

Gold is a Level II Dental Assistant, has 2 years of Kinesiology and a recent diploma in Drug and Alcohol addiction. She smiled and said, “Anyone can be trained.”

Before taking this job, Gold was juggling two jobs in Willow Bunch, the post office and French director. “There is no school in Willow Bunch and (the town) has a lack of opportunity for our youth.” said Gold as she discussed her reasons for taking a job in Coronach.

Gold’s son, Langston, who will be four in March has attended the CELLC daycare and plans to enroll in Kindergarten in Coronach next fall, so Gold feels a job in Coronach makes sense.

So far, Gold is very happy in her new position, “I’ve been enjoying it so far. The ladies have been awesome and the community has been very welcoming.”

I believe the key successor in this position is respecting the employees who make this facility the great place that it is. I am excited to have this opportunity and this major career building experience.”

Dawn and her family live in the town of Willow Bunch, her husband, Jeff Gold, owns and operates an abattoir on the family farm. Dawn is the daughter of Johny Lemieux and the late Christine Lemieux of Willow Bunch.
