The Coronach School Annual Awards Day was held on June 14, 2012.

The afternoon began with the singing of “O Canada” by the Grade 3/4 class, led by Miss McLean, followed by a welcome by Miss Ashley Rachul.  Rachul, along with Grade 12 student Connor Ferrie were emcees for the afternoon.  Rachul and Ferrie have often taken the emcee duties at the school and always get many a laugh along the way.

The pair began with a list of things that make Coronach School “great”.  According to the pair, only at Coronach School do you  book an appointment for a grilled cheese or where “Potluck” is the answer to everything.  They also commented that the “Running of the Bulls” has nothing on the rush for morning snack and how Chuck Norris has nothing on Administrative Assistant, Jo Marit.

Awards were then presented as follows:

Coronach School recognizes the following students who have increased their averages 5% or more from April, 2011 to April, 2012. – Ashleigh Florell, Aaron Florell, Benjamin Reid-Clavelle, Brandon Thurlow, Mathew Woods, Kolby Barrett, Ian Clakin, Katie Dyck, Madison Froehlich, Jessica Hammel, Madison Hiltz, Tovah Rothe, and Keely Rousseau

Also recieving awards for increasing their average by five per cent or more were Lesley Rousseau, Amanda Schwitzer, Karlie Wilson, Karla Krusky, Ashley Strutynski, Larissa Warken and Justin Wilford.

Assiniboia Chapter #8 O.E.S and Phyllis Heaps Memorial Scholarship: $500- Garret Pifko

Participation Award: Trophy, plaque and $150- Nikki Cairns

Honor Pins and Highest Academic Achievement: Honor pins are presented to the students in Grades 7-12 who obtained an average of 85% or higher in April 2012.

Entertainment for the afternoon included Grade 3 & 4 Choral Speaking, Mikayla Foley dancing a lyrical number to “I Want to Hold Your Hand”, Stephanie Totton playing “Fantasia” and the Senior Choir singing “Waving Flag”.
