On Monday May, 7th at 7pm, the Rockglen and Coronach Catholic Parishes joined in celebration in the Sacraments of Christian Initiation at St. John the Evangelist Church in Rockglen.
Presiding over the celebration was His Grace ABP. Daniel J. Bohan, Archbishop of the Regina Diocese. He was assisted by seminarian James Zick currently having his internship at St. Joseph’s in Moose Jaw. Father Andrew represented the Rockglen and Coronach Parishes. As well, Father Joy, from Assiniboia , was in attendance for the ceremony.
Six children (three from Coronach, three from Rockglen) received First Holy Communion:Keenan Borgerson, Shae Sabourin, Brooklyn Monteyene, Jill Marcenko, Sommer Foley& Lucas Kessler.
Twenty two children (ten from Rockglen and twelve from Coronach) received Sacrament of Confirmation: Kathy Dufault, Shae Beaulieu, Bridget Crooks, Evan Foley, Steven Elmy, Jamie Monea, Kirkland Borgerson, Jaclyn Noll, Kade Eger, Zane Marcenko, Ryland Grona, Kassie Sabourin, Kylla Sabourin, Caroline Stewart, Keenan Borgerson, Shae Sabourin, Brooklyn Monteyene, Jill Marcenko, Sommer Foley, Lucas Kessler, Tristin Rousseau & Mekhi Rousseau.
The parish representatives said, “Numerous people are to be commended for such a celebration to take place. Thank you to the parents for not only acknowledging the importance and significance of these sacraments, but for working with the teachers and making the effort so their children were prepared for the celebration. The altar servers, readers and gift bearers did a great job too.”
The teachers who dedicated their time and spiritual guidance in preparing the candidates for the sacraments were Val Rousseau, Shelly Rousseau, Carolee Beaulieu, Tania Sabourin, Marina Thomson and Father Andrew.
Music for the celebration was provided by John and Maureen Sabourin and Doreen Crooks.
Florence Gording prepared supper for the Bishop preceding the service.
Chairperson of Rockglen Parish, Marc Spagrud, gave the welcoming address.
Denise Borgerson made a beautiful cake for the reception that followed.
