Another successful Steven Zoller Memorial Scholarship Fundraiser was held May 12, 2012 in Fife Lake hosted by Lawson and Gail Harkness at the Fife Lake Hotel. There was a good turnout of Steven’s friends, neighbours, and family. Besides a steak supper, there was a silent auction and a live auction, of many generous donations by the good people of all the surrounding communities.
Earnest Anderson was the auctioneer drawing some good prices, especially for the pies.
This year, the money raised went to two scholarships for two young ladies from Rockglen School.
Tenae Walters and Breanna Hostin were both awarded $500 scholarships.
Being there was no applications from Coronach school, the directors decided to donate $500 each to two local organizations, the Coronach Volunteer Fire Department and the Poplar River Assistance Trust.
There was also a presentation of $300 each made by Rimrock Accounting to both the Rockglen and Coronach Volunteer Fire Departments to help pay for “ Landing Lights for the ‘STARS’”. These are lights needed to mark where the Ambulance Service Helicopter ‘STARS’ can land at an emergency site.
