Glentworth’s Annual Dance Recital; ‘Dancing Through the Ages 2012’

The Davidson School of Dance presented the annual dance recital at Glentworth Hall on May 4. The show entitled ‘Dancing Through the Ages 2012’ was choreographed and directed by Sharla Davidson-Girardin and Sharisse Davidson-Pritchard. The capable emcees were former students Miss Allison Jalbert and Miss Ariel Petersen.

The show opened with ‘Itty Bitty Pretty One/Witchdoctor’ (1950’s) performed by Intermediate Musical Theatre group Allison McCrea, Tkeyae Reader, Averie Sawchuk, Brooke Lanoie, Jordan DeBruyne, Emily Wallace, Callie McCrea, Hannah Galbraith, Shiane Goodwin and Quidje-Bo Ludwig.

Holding Out for a Hero (2010) was danced by Grade 5 Ballet group Nicole Pana, Skylae Reader, Kacy Anderson, Shaylyn Goodwin and Brenna Kuffner.

Chicago’(1920’s) was by Pre-Intermediate 3 Tap students Shanna McCrea, Faith Lacey and Sharayah Moroz.

I See the Light (2010) was danced by Grade 1 Ballet- Taylor Zahariuk, Kaira Lee, Logan Poirier, Kaylin Poirier and Aspen Blake.

Haven’t Met You Yet (2009) was performed by Preliminary Tap students Alexa Anthony, Savannah Petersen, Elexa Sawchuk, Jazlyn Harden, Kaitlyn Silbernagel, Kaylee Zahariuk and Payton Todd.

When I’m Sixty-Four (1995) was by Tiny Tot Ballet- Addyson Davies-Okraincee, Danica Todd and Karyss Harden.

Coppelia (1996) Pointe- performed by Shaylyn Goodwin, Sharayah Moroz, Brenna Kuffner, Skylae Reader, Kacy Anderson and Nicole Pana.

I Believe was performed by the Grade 12 Trio featuring jazz, ballet and tap by Gracyn Johnson, Josie Blake and Shanna McCrea.

Love You Like a Love Song (2011) was Junior 1 Jazz danced by Savannah Petersen, Kaitlyn Silbernagel and Alexa Anthony.

Waterloo (1974) was performed by the Grade 1 Tap group of Quidje-Bo Ludwig, Hannah Galbraith, Emily Wallace and Callie McCrea.

Swan Lake (1877) was danced by Grade 4 Ballet student Brooke Lanoie.

I Saw Her Standing There(1962) was by Pre-Intermediate 2 Tap- Brenna Kuffner,

Kacy Anderson, Allison McCrea and Tkeyae Reader.

Moves Like Jagger (2011), Pre-Intermediate 3 Jazz class, by Shenae Reader, Dakota McLean, Shanna McCrea and Sharayah Moroz.

After intermission, ‘Jessie’s Girl’ (1981), Pre-Intermediate 2 Jazz, was danced by Skylae Reader, Brenna Kuffner, Kacy Anderson, Tkeyae Reader, Shaylyn Goodwin, Jolene Munford, Nicole Pana and Allison McCrea.

‘Hero’ (1993), Grade 3 Ballet, was performed by Katelyn Fehr, Quidje-Bo Ludwig and Callie McCrea.

‘Stuck in the Middle’ (!972), Junior 1 Jazz, was by Logan Poirier, Jordan DeBruyne, Kaylin Poirier, Taylor Zahariuk, Aspen Blake and Kaira Lee.

‘Bubbly’ (2007), Grade 7 Ballet, was danced by Faith Lacey, Shenae Reader, Sharayah Moroz and Josie Blake.

‘Rags’ (1993) was a Tiny Tot Tap number performed by Karyss Harden, Addyson Davies-Okraincee and Danica Todd.

‘Every Girl Can be a Princess’ (2008), Primary Ballet by Payton Todd, Jazlyn Harden, Kaylee Zahariuk, Elexa Sawchuk, Kaitlyn Silbernagel, Alexa Anthony and Savannah Petersen.

‘Everybody Dance Now’ (1991), a Junior 3 Jazz number, was danced by Callie McCrea, Emily Wallace, Averie Sawchuk, Hannah Galbraith, Quidje-Bo Ludwig,

Shiane Goodwin, Katelyn Fehr and Brooke Lanoie.

‘Real in Rio’ (2011) was performed by Primary Tap students Aspen Blake, Kaylin Poirier, Kaira Lee, Logan Poirier and Taylor Zahariuk.

‘Footloose’ (1984) featured the Senior Musical Theatre group- Josie Blake, Jolene Munford, Brenna Kuffner, Dakota McLean, Sharayah Moroz, Nicole Pana, Faith Lacey, Gracyn Johnson, Shanna McCrea and Shenae Reader.

After the Grande Finale, certificates were presented to the students who had completed exams. Presentations were made to the three grade 12 students by Miss Sharla and Miss Sharisse. Students with perfect attendance were also acknowledged.

It was a wonderful program showcasing the talents of the local young people.
