The RCMP from Coronach are investigating a fatal collision between an ATV and a parked semi-trailer, north west of the town of Coronach.
A 15 year old young man from Coronach was declared deceased at the scene.
On Wednesday, August 11 at 10:45 a.m., police were called to a collision on a grid road approximately 10 km north west of Coronach. The 15 year old male, from Coronach, was operating the ATV when he collided into the back of a parked semi trailer.
The semi-trailer was occupied at the time and parked on the road. EMS and Fire Department from Coronach attended but the 15 year old was declared deceased at the scene.
Also assisting in the investigation is a Traffic Collision analyst from RCMP Traffic Services.
The name of the 15 year old will not be released at this time as investigators are in the process of contacting the next of kin.
Officials of the Prairie South School Division opened the doors to the Coronach School on Thursday, August 12 where counsellors were on hand to speak to the friends and classmates of the young man.
He was scheduled to begin Grade 11 on August 25.
Friends and Facebook tributes describe the young man as one who brightened the room when he entered it, a lover of farming and a great friend who will be greatly missed.
Funeral arrangements were underway at press time.
