Please be aware that recently there have been an increase in attempted scams in the area. One of the most common is a man/woman calling pretending to be a relative in need of money. The caller says that he/she has been recently arrested and put in jail. The caller will ask for approximately $2,000.00 plus bail so they can be released. These scammers are known to call again in the near future if they believe the call taker was even slightly convinced.

The reason for this release is community awareness. Please take caution in the future when dealing with a stranger, or a person claiming to be a family member asking for currency. An increase in these calls have occurred and will most likely continue.
