In a November 2009 issue of the Triangle News it was reported that on Monday, November 2, RCMP attended the scene of a sudden death at a farm north of the town of Bengough on Sunday.
In a press release on November 4, local police confirmed that RCMP Major Crime South are assisting the Bengough RCMP Detachment with an investigation into the death of a 65 year old man from the area.
At that time, the name of the deceased had not been released pending notification of next of kin.
On December 1, 2010, the RCMP Major Crime South Unit have charged 65 year old Tony Warken of Bengough, Saskatchewan with 2nd degree murder. The charges stem from the incidents first reported to the Bengough RCMP on November 1, 2009 when 65 year old Gordon Gregson, also of Bengough, was found deceased in his residence.
On December 1, 2010, Mr. Warken was arrested, in Bengough, by members of Major Crime Unit and held in custody until his first court appearance which is scheduled for this December 2 at 9:30 a.m. at Regina Provincial Court.
The charges were formally laid on the afternoon of December 1 by police.
The investigation was supported by members of the RCMP Forensic Identification Unit out of Yorkton and Regina as welll as members of the Bengough detachment. Also assisting with the investigation was the Moose Jaw GIS unit, the RCMP Southern Enforcement Response Team (SERT) and the Provincial Coroners Office.
