From April 24 - May 6, 2012 the Shurniak Art Gallery in Assiniboia will host the Group of Ten Photography Club 7th annual amatuer photography competition.
The club will have 9 categories, with prizes for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and honourable mention along with cash prizes.
The categories are:
• White
• Vintage
• Bridges
• Au Natural - free of any edits after shooting
• Animals
• People at Work
• Weather
• Youth - Open - 18 & Under
• Creative - Images that connot exist in reality.
The competition is open to all amateur photographers.
The Group of Ten Photography Club began with ten people who shared a strong interest in photography and were taking a photography class together.
Following the completion of the class, the group formed a club so that they could continue to meet and share ideas and their own area of expertise.
The Group of Ten Photography Club was formed in 2005. They held their first Amateur Photo Competition and Show in 2006.
The club has displayed their work at the Wood Mountain Rodeo Ranch Museum, the Gaiety Theatre in Gravelbourg and Art in the Park in Rockglen.
They also held workshops with Darwin Wiggett, Samantha Chrysanthou and Dwayne Senft
Guests to the club included Mike Stobbs - Painting With Light and Craig Hilts – Storm Chasing.
The club also hosted presentations by Delores Fauser on Birding and Wanda Knoss on knowing your camera.
