Adrien and Rita St. Amant of Willow Bunch are $100,000 richer following a big win on the Extra on the October 17, SUPER 7 lottery draw.
According to Doris O'Reilly from Willow Bunch (who sold their home to the Amants), the Amants recently relocated to Willow Bunch after selling their business in Estevan. The Amants took possession of the O'Reilly's home on October 1.
Adrien and Rita purchased the ticket at the Little J's Confectionery in Estevan, Saskatchewan. The Amants checked their ticket at D & G Variety Store in Willow Bunch. Dianne Therrien, owner of the D & G Variety Store, said this is the first big win since she took over the store in 1995.
Therrien reported that the last big winner in Willow Bunch was in 1994, when Robert and Francine Allan won $100,000 on a ticket purchased from the then named Willow Bunch Variety Store.
In a recent Saskatchewan Lotteries media release, Adrien said, "I thought we had to have all the numbers to win everything, but then I thought I'd better get (the ticket) checked."
Linda Kennedy, part-time employee of the D & G Variety Store was working when the Amants checked their ticket."When the clerk checked the ticket, she said, Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, you won $100,000," said Adrian. " I didn't have my glasses, so she gave me a magnifying glass to take a look and it said $100,000 and you can't dispute that!"
The winners plan to pay down some bills with a portion of their winnings, with no immediate plans for the rest.
