On Friday, October 28, New Democrat candidate Ken Kessler was in Coronach for a special campaign announcement. He was joined by town councillor and former Liberal candidate Colleen Christopherson-Cote and local residents.
“Today, I am making a pledge to each and every resident of Coronach,” began Kessler. “That should I be elected, I will work as hard as I can to bring this community the doctor it so desperately needs.”
Kessler went on to say that it is an absolute shame that in a time of so much wealth and prosperity for the province, the community of Coronach continues to be left in the lurch.
“This is the time to invest, but under the Sask Party we have seen massive deep rooted cuts. Cuts to hospitals, cuts to schools and now cuts to ambulance services,” said Kessler. “If this is what it is like in the good times? I can’t help but question what it will be like in the bad ones.”
New Democrat Platform commits to:
- Investing an additional $24 million into physician recruitment which includes incentives for relief doctors, establishing a provincial team of doctors and retraining
- Funding surgical care centres in smaller Saskatchewan cities so that residents can get the surgery they need closer to home.
- Doubling the number of primary health care clinics over the next ten years, with thirty new clinics added in the first term of office.
