The Town of Coronach is about to head to the polls to fill a number of vacant positions.

Aldermen, Ed Plumb and Colleen Christopherson-Cote resigned from the town council the week of December 9, followed by the resignation of Mayor Skip

McBain effective December 31, 2011.

Although McBain has decided to relinquish the Mayoral seat, he plans to run for one of the vacant alderman seats. McBain said, “I want to concentrate on spending more time with the family”.

According to Murray Setrum, administrator for the Town of Coronach, Plumb and Christopherson-Cote, found themselves too busy with other commitments and decided to resign from council.

Plumb, who has been on council for the past six years, felt a personal decision had to be made. “”It’s just too busy with work and everything else and I can’t keep up and I am not doing any justice or personal service by doing half a job. I can’t dedicate the time to do it properly.” said Plumb.

Christopherson-Cote, who is currently the chair of the Prairie South School Division, also resigned her position as the economic development officer for the Town of Coronach. Cote declined comments about the resignations.

Nominations will open in the New Year, with a possible election to follow in February.
