Darren's Drivel

It’s that time again, to sit down and write my column....and I’m still not wearing pants. Yes, I love to wear shorts as long as I can into the cooler months. What did you think I meant? I do remember wearing shorts in November last year. Normal is boring.

Well, that’s all I got. Have a great week.

Ok, if I must, let me share some observations from this week.

I’ve realized in my short time at the Triangle News that I have this uncanny ability to instantly forget someone’s name after I’ve been introduced to them. I don’t know if it’s because I work close to 80 hours a week, or because I deal with so many people on a daily basis, but then again, I’ve never really been good at names. I’m getting better though. Maybe by the time I’ve met you for the 16th time, I will remember. No promises though. Everyone seems to call me by my name now, which is kinda cool. I think I used to be know as, “Oh, that guy.” I suppose Darren is much better.

And to prove that no one is safe when it comes to my column, my daughter officially sucks at getting immunizations. Her recent school vaccines were not much fun for either of us and to top things off, she has one more in a month. I’m thinking next time I will offer her a large amount of cash and that will hopefully help.

Oh yeah, and love and support.

For those of you still reading AND still imagining me without pants. Thank you.

One of the great things about fall is that the new TV season has begun. It’s getting more difficult to keep up with all the new shows, however, I did have a chance to watch the Comedy Central Roast of Charlie Sheen. If you’re not easily offended, it’s a must see. Little known comedienne Amy Schumer stole the show. I probably laughed more than I should have at the nasty things she said, but it was all in good fun.

Dexter will be back on the air soon which is one the greatest shows ever. Also, it will be interesting to see how Ted Danson fits into CSI Las Vegas, and of course, can’t go wrong with The Big Bang Theory. I’m told Modern Family is a good one to watch too, but hockey is back soon and Oilers’ hockey trumps all. I’m very thankful for PVRs.

Kay-lyn and I do like to sit down and watch Glee together each week. Yeah, I watch Glee, don’t judge me. I like to dazzle Kay-lyn with my vast musical knowledge of the older songs that are on the show. Although, knowing the words to songs by Wayne Newton and The Go-Go’s is probably not something to be proud of.

Finally this week, I want to address something that almost caused the world come to a stop. That’s right, Facebook changed it’s layout and people went a little goofy. Change is good. Accept it and embrace it. For all the complaining people did, sometimes I wish they would put their efforts towards a cause that actually mattered.
