Kelly's Kolumn

How about the beautiful fall colours this year!

I have so been enjoying the colours of the leaves, I am just hoping that some big wind doesn’t blow in and ruin it for us!

We have managed to stay clear of the white stuff, even our photo of last year’s snow storm didn’t cause us too much grief. A couple of flakes just to make things interesting!

Thanks to the Grade 11 class and Miss Rachul for the beautiful window painting. I hope it doesn’t fade too quickly as it is fun!

I had a fun week attending many of the different activities that the school organized for Education Week. Great job to all who were involved in the week!

It’s Halloween Day!! Is everyone as excited as our student, Alex?? Are you all decorated up and ready for the ghosts and goblins? I love Halloween. I used to love to dress up and go out with the kids or throw on a mask at home for the trick or treaters. And even funner, dress up and go out to the bar or a cabaret. There is just something about a costume that makes people act goofy!!

With Halloween out of the way, it is hockey time! Many of our local hockey stars have been busy already. Grant has been busy at our house lining up the senior team and I know all of the minor hockey folk have been getting their teams and schedules all lined up.

We had our first curling meeting and started to organize our year. Our registration is this week and we sure hope to see lots out for curling. We had a bit of a slow year last year as far as bonspiels, having to cancel so many because of lack of interest. It is sad really. We are trying hard to make things fun to keep the doors open at our rink. If anyone has any suggestions or would like to help us out we would be happy to have you!!

This weekend (well last weekend now...), our family went to Martensville, to my sister Della’s for a party to meet my nephew Cody’s mother-in-law Kelen who flew in from Brazil. It must be so hard for her to have her daughter and grandchild so far away. We are looking forward to meeting her and spending some time with little Oliver. Time flies by so quickly. . . he is sneaking up on his first birthday already!

Speaking of sneaking up. . . How is your Christmas shopping going? I actually have a couple things already. That isn’t the norm for me.

I am hoping to hammer out a plan for the Christmas season over the weekend. We have always tried to see both families or try to switch back and forth. Now that we have grown boys with girlfriends, it makes it even harder. I am sure we will work out something, but I know that making holiday plans can cause much grief for families. Good luck to you for a smoothly made plan and wish me a little too!!
