That is a familiar saying around here, but oh, it is so true! Such has certainly been the case this winter!
It is just so hard to believe that we can have wind chills at -40°C one day and then near 0° the next!
The thing about our crazy weather, it is gives us something to talk about!
What do you suppose people in Hawaii talk about at the till at the grocery story every day? “Well, it sure is nice out again today”?? Not really that interesting when their temperature rarely changes!
John Gormley reported on Twitter the other day that Saskatchewan has 102 degrees of temperature swing between its all time low and all time high.
The lowest recorded temperature in Saskatchewan was in Prince Albert in 1893, with a low of -56.7°C. . . talk about cold!
Our highest recorded temperature was in Midale/Yellow Grass in 1937 when the mercury peaked at +45°C . Mighty warm!
Alberta has a swing of 104; British Columbia 103. Now, that’s some weather worth talking about!
So, back to Twitter! Do you tweet? I have been on Twitter since this summer and mostly I “watched” the Rider games on Twitter when I was away from my radio or television.
It is a great way to keep up with games, with very up-to-date sports reports.
With the Riders enjoying time off, I now just read people’s thoughts or quotes or drivel. . . who came up with that word?
I don’t usually come up with anything too profound to tweet, but I have managed to get a couple of mentions, a few replies and ONE retweet from Goo Gone!
It really is a great product if you have a troublesome stain or sticky mess you need to clean up.
My favourite, Silly Puddy out of carpet, and the latest success, stickers off of new appliance for my friend!
Maybe I could try to come up with a great household tip each week for my column to try to compete with Darren’s humour. . . I doubt it would help!
Well, if you would like to follow me, my name is @CoronachKelly or Darren @DarrenMetzger. Alex has waaaaay more followers that Darren or I and we are looking to be a bit more popular!!
Thanks again everyone for picking up the Triangle News each week to see what Darren and I, and many times Alex, are arguing about now! Oh, and just an update. . . Darren’s computer has been playing CKRM, I think he is beginning to like it!
