Well, Kelly is back from Cuba and while she brought me back another mug to further fuel my caffeine addiction, she failed to bring me back what I asked for.... A cute Cuban bride. We actually had this conversation before she left, but said she couldn’t fulfill my wish. Something about her not surviving in a suitcase for that many hours. Oh well, the search continues.
Did you ever have one of them weeks? Well, I had one this week. I’m not one to complain, so I’ll just leave it at that. Putting a newspaper together is definitely not a one person job. (Yup, I spelled “definitely” wrong, needed the help of spell check once again).
I’m really drawing a blank this week, so how about an update on the Twitter Wars between myself, Kelly and former student intern Alex Berthelot. As I’m writing this, Kelly is getting left in the dust with only 48 followers and Alex is still in the lead with 106. I’m slowly gaining with 79 followers.
I’m not even sure why most of my followers are following me, heck I’d unfollow me if I could. Most of my unknown followers are lawyer type people, rap artists and porn stars. Why those first two type of people would want to follow me, I have no idea. The third, I can totally understand! Don’t forget: @DarrenMetzger.
I want to invent a Facebook application that prevents pictures of cats and pictures of cats in supposedly cute poses from appearing in my News Feed. I don’t like cats and will never find them cute. Where’s ALF when you need him?
What’s way worse is seeing pictures of tortured animals on Facebook. While the sight and thought of those images are thoroughly disgusting, Facebook is not the place for that. There has to be another way for people to get their message out.
As I was dosing up on Melatonin this week to help me sleep, I wonder why the manufacturers put so little tablets in such giant bottles. Is there a reason? Is it to make their product more noticeable on the shelves? I spent five minutes on google to try and find the answer, with no luck...yet. But I know the answer is out there.
While I was googling for that, I had another thought (don’t laugh, it can happen), but just as fast as I had that thought, I lost it. I hope it comes back before I’m done writing. Chances are it will come to me at about 11:30 tonight after the paper has gone to print. Hate when that happens.
BREAKING NEWS: Andy Fantuz has signed with the Toronto Argonauts!
Ok, that’s not true, but I was hoping that news would come today and I would have had the best Drivel in a long time, especially for my Rider fan readers. Actually it doesn’t sound like the Argos are the front runner right now, it’s apparently those hated Tiger Cats. By this time next week, we should now. It’s always fun to follow along and see where high profile players end up.
Which reminds me, NHL Trade Deadline Day is only a week away. That day is usually a National Holiday in my house. I’m not sure how productive I’ll be at work that day. I think I’m coming down with the Trade Deadline Flu and might have to spend the day on the couch.
Not too sure how active my Oilers are going to be, but I’d be surprised if Ales Hemsky was an Oiler after deadline day is done. Sam Gagner’s name has been in trade rumors all year, but I can’t see them trading him after the tear he has been on. Unless they simply get an offer they can’t refuse. Either way, it’s alway an interesting day.
Wait, I think I remembered my thought..... Nope, never mind.
