Countdown to Craven!
Kelly's Kolumn
108 days till Craven!
Too soon for a countdown? It is never too soon for me to think about Craven!
The people at the jamboree office are all over the radio, Facebook, Twitter, etc., encouraging everyone to get their tickets for the 2012 edition of the music festival, so it is hard to not think about it all of the time!
Organizers were even out driving around the site and reporting back that spring runoff only resulted in a few puddles, a far cry from the fish hatchery that was left behind last year. I am excited to get back to the main campsite with our friends and family for a great weekend of country music!
Of course this beautiful weather always causes one’s mind to wander to summer and all the fun that awaits!
Another thing that gets me thinking about Craven is the upcoming CKRM Talent Show. Dallas will be competing again, with his sights on performing on Sunday’s mainstage at Craven. With the band, Parallel 49, not playing much anymore, I am very excited to listen to Dallas sing. Good luck to Dallas!!
Dance season is in full swing with one competition in Weyburn and then Ogema this past weekend. No competition for Coronach this year, as nobody is interested in coming to Coronach. Too bad! It is hard for us to attract people but it is a bit frustrating when we travel to Weyburn and spend the weekend in a hotel and our dressing room is a cramped corner of a hallway! We have so much more space to offer. . .
It was nice to get away for the weekend and just sit for a couple of days! Although, I could have done without the 7 a.m. wake up call on Sunday!
Last year, when we headed for Ogema's dance competition, we had to deal with ice-covered highways and decreased visibility. The forecast looked much better for the weekend, but one can never be too sure! I bet Medicine Hat was a bit shocked with the weather that they had to deal with last week! Is it wrong that I kept looking out the window hoping for a little bit of a blizzard? I don't mind this time of year as you know the snow won't hang around long. And, I must say a little snow in the air might have taken the temperature in the dance hall a little closer to bearable for the competition!
Have you read the “Hunger Games”? I have not, but this past weekend I attended the movie. This was the first time I have ever pre-purchased tickets for a movie! Delaney is obsessed with these books and has been counting down the days for the release of this movie. Who would be so silly to count down to some movie. . . It certainly has caused a big commotion. I heard that Saskatoon movie theatres were sold out before the movie even opened. I will be sure to report on how Grant and I enjoyed the movie, as we haven’t read the books and had no idea what the movie was when we went.
Easter Break is next week! I am looking forward to family coming for a visit. I hope this beautiful weather holds and we can maybe even get out on the golf course! The straw came off last week, so we should be able to get going soon, although, there have been people golfing a bit throughout this winter, with no snow and balmy weather! Have a great week everyone!
