The Assiniboia Rocket Pee Wee football team played in the Moose Jaw Kinsmen Football league, with four other Moose Jaw teams. They finished at the bottom of the standings, but according to Coach Brian Ruthven, they gained valuable experience for the years ahead.
Ruthven talked about the Assiniboia football program. “We are continuing to build our program from the ground up and with the success of the Pee-Wee program we feel we have a solid foundation. Pee-Wee players can now step into the Bantam team with three years of experience and have an impact at the Bantam level. The same can be said for the Bantam team feeding the Senior Rockets football team. Most importantly, a program this size could not be done without the help of volunteers. They are over-looked in most cases, but without volunteer coaches we would not have the success we do.”
