Local junior golfers have continued their great play in recent weeks.
On Thursday, August 18th, Coronach’s Brandon Thurlow took top spot at the annual Assiniboia Golf Course’s junior tournament in the 13-14 age group. Thurlow shot an 18-hole round of 87, which was also the low round of the day.
In the 15-16 age group, Curtis Kwasnicki from Scout Lake placed first with a round of 93. Assiniboia’s Owen Harden won the 11-12 age group with a score of 59 over 9 holes and Johnathon Harden, also from Assiniboia, shot a 58 over 9, to take the 10 and under age group.
21 junior golfers took part in the one day tournament.
Elsewhere, Riley Grona of Coronach and Bengough’s Tyrin Foley finished up play on the SGI Canada Saskatchewan Junior Order of Merit Tour. The tour championship was held at the Willows Golf and Country Club in Saskatoon August 22nd and 23rd. Scoring was based on the Stableford Scoring System. In the junior men’s 15-16 year old division, Grona finished 6th in the championship with 112 points, while Foley placed 9th with 107 points.
In the overall final tour standings, Foley finished 5th and Grona ended up in 7th place.
