The Coronach Golf Club hosted their annual Father’s Day Tournament on Sunday, June 17 with 13 two-person teams competing.
Unsettled weather and a rain-filled forecast may have kept some golfers away but those who came, got 18 holes in with not too much trouble with the weather.
Golfers teed off soon after noon with rain beginning shortly after golfers teed off. Big rain drops soaked the players as bright sun shone down. The rain finished before the players holed out on their first hole and besides a sprinkle or two, stayed away for the rest of the day.
Strong winds gusted throughout the day, but the sun kept things pleasant for the golfers.
Low score of the day went to Scott and Logan Skinner in the Men’s Division with an impressive score of 70. Skinners’ names will be added to the Marv Day Memorial trophy.
A tie for second, at 73, between Dallas and Boycie Elder and Curtis and Tyren Kupper was broken using retrogression and the cash prize went to Kuppers.
In the Couples division, Reg Jepson and Tammy Clavelle carded a score of 76 to take top spot. Tim and Sheila Goddard were three strokes back for second place.
In the Parent/Child Division, Dennis and 12 year old Alex Hicks scored a 76 to place first. George and Jordan Gent finished in second with an 88.
Individual prizes were awarded to Marv Holbrook for longest putt on #7 with a putt of 141 1/2 inches; Tammy Clavelle for Ladies’ Longest Drive on #9; Curtis Kupper for Men’s Longest Drive on #9; Austin Kupper Juniors’ Longest Drive on #9 and Tyren Kupper hit the closest to the pin, 26 inches, on #4.
At the end of the day, golfers and guests enjoyed a steak supper provided by the clubhouse staff.
