The ice is going in and after an uncertain beginning, the Coronach Minor Hockey teams are set and ready to go.After many years of fielding Midget, Bantam and Pee Wee teams in the South Central Minor Hockey League (SCMHL), the Midgets are the only ones left.

After a mass exodus of teams in the Bantam and Pee Wee age groups, those divisions in the league folded, leaving teams in Coronach scrambling for a place to play.

After some discussion, the Bantam and Pee Wee teams have combined with the teams in Bengough and have entered the South East Minor Hockey League.

The Coronach/Bengough Bantams, along with Estevan, Radville and Weyburn who also played in the SCMHL, will now travel to Lampman, Stoughton, Oxbow, Carlyle and Kipling.

The Pee Wees, along with two Estevan teams, Radville and Weyburn, will join Stoughton and Bienfait in the new league.

The Bantams and Pee Wees will play their first game of the season on Saturday, November 6.

The Pee Wees will be at home in the Coronach Sportsplex, the Bantams will be on the road.  The Bantams will play their first home game on Friday, November 12.

The Midgets will play their season opener on Saturday, November 13 in Estevan with their first home game against Radville on November 26.

The Midgets will play a 20 game schedule against Estevan, Assiniboia, Radville, Quad Town and Weyburn.

The Atom, Novice and Initiation age groups will play in the Wood River Minor Hockey League.  The scheduling meeting was held October 20, 2010.

Along with a full slate of minor hockey, the Coronach Merchants will once again be icing a team. There are a number of changes to the teams in the league.

The Gravelbourg Stars, Herbert Hawks and Mossbank Blades have entered teams and were not on the 09-10 schedule.

Last year’s Morse Royals are absent from this year’s schedule. Back from last year are the Coronach Merchants, Assiniboia Rebels, Glentworth Thunder, Hodgeville Huskies, Kincaid Maroons and Lafleche Flyers.

The Merchants first game is scheduled for Friday, November 5 in Coronach.
