Junior B hockey in Southern Saskatchewan lost it’s founder and biggest fan this week when Bill Johnston from Moose Jaw passed away after an illness. Bill truly was the founder and inspiration for the South Sask. Junior Hockey League in 1992 and was involved in many capacities until failing health sidelined him a couple years ago. He was respected by many as relentless in his efforts to promote Junior B hockey in the South. I’m proud to say as a member of the South Sask Junior Hockey League we knew Bill. The South Division Champions of the PJHL each year receive the Bill Johnston trophy and our Storm Team is honoured to have been awarded this trophy by Bill the past 5 years. We will miss Bill but remember him through hockey.
