Coronach’s Kylee Kupper, Moose Jaw’s Olivia Howe and the rest of the Notre Dame Hounds took the first step to try to defend their Esso Cup women’s national midget hockey championship.
The Hounds beat the Saskatoon Stars in three straight games to win the Saskatchewan Female Midget AAA Hockey League title and claim the Fedoruk Cup. Howe scored the game-winning goal for the Hounds in their 5-2 series-clinching win on Friday, March 23.
Howe led all playoff scorers with 20 goals and six assists in nine games as the Hounds swept all three of their playoff series. Kupper notched three goals and two assists.
Notre Dame will host the regional play downs versus the Pembina Valley Hawks. The best of three series will begin Good Friday, April 6 at 8 p.m., game two is April 7 at 4 p.m. and game three, if necessary, will be Sunday, April 8 at 1:30 p.m. All games will be played in Wilcox.
The winner will advance to the Esso Cup in Charlottetown, P.E.I. which takes place April 22 to 28.
